First impressions of America

x

  • There are US flags EVERYWHERE.  I was yelling out "flag" everytime I saw one on the way to San Diego, and there were lots.

  • When people don't see the sea for a year, they get rally excited about it. Personally can't contemplate not seeing the sea for a year

  • Yellow school busses exist. As does Macys, JCPenneys, IKea, Taco Bell and In and Out burger.
  • America is behind NZ and still has Shell petrol stations.....lol
  • Squirrels are cute.
That is all for now

LA Baby

well, I made it! My friends left this morning so today I've just been hanging out in my hotel room, painting my nails and just doing stuff. Walked about 1k to the place where my tour leaves from tomorrow and sorted a ride from the hotel at 9am, yuck.

Anyway, so I arrived on Saturday. Flight wasn't too bad, a little bumpy in the middle of the night, but I managed to get a little sleep. Customs wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, I filled out the wrong form though and the guys were really nice about it and helped me out. Once I got outside, I found a bus that took me directly to my hotel for free = first tipping experience. Checked in all goods and stuff, had amazing shower (so happy about the fantastic water pressure) and eventually my friends Amber and Emma from Arizona showed up. They drove 7 hours to come meet me! We met online a few years ago, so it was cool to finally hang with them. We went and got taco bell which was an experience. The guy behind the counter was really helpful and so we eventually ordered some stuff.

Kahu look, we made it!

Then we went on a bit of an Adventure. Firstly, we went to AT&T to get me a phone which was fun. Got an American phone and number - if you want it, just message me and I'll give it to ya. Then we headed out to Venice Beach which was an experience. Firstly, parking was a mish, then we had to walk about 10minutes to get to the beach. Nice beach it is too. It was a little too cold to swim, but we turned Emma into a sand mermaid which was fun. We just hung out on the beach for about 45 minutes, and then walked along the boardwalk which was scary. I didn't trust any of the food or anything, so we found this little Asian place for dinner, but turns out that food repeated on me quite a bit overnight, yuck!

Here we are!

OOOOHHHH a sign

I got really excited about this yellow school bus. Amber and Emma laughed at me.

I typed most of this on my tablet, but it  was getting annoying, so now I'm using the hotel computers which is costing me, but at least I can finish this!!

Yesterday we went to San Diego Zoo, but I'm going to put that in a separate post and hope that I can deal with my tablet by then!

So yeah, I'm here. Tomorrow I fly to NYC, woooO!!

WOWZA

Time goes quick!
Been to my last game at the stadium tonight, was a good time. Chips tasted a little odd though....ohwell. Hurricanes won yay!!! Sadly, didn't see James O'Connor, don't think he made it :(.

Trip stuff going well, still a few small things to sort out. Had to take carry on bag back cos it was defunked. Got a new one. Its lame, but hopefully I can find a nicer one in the states hahaha.

Main worry now is the damn credit card.....Oh, and of course spending money

Wahhh 23 days to go!

Just home from the South Island. Had a really fun time. Didn't get to see all the fambam though, oh well, guess they will just all have to learn how to use skype *looks at all fambam members*.

We went to the rugby in Dunedin which was so much fun, we had some cool seats and my cousins got to run on with the Highlanders which was super special for them.

I got my tickets and itinerary while I was away too! My flight from LA to NYC got changed from leaving at midnight and getting in at 8am  to leaving at like 10.30pm and getting in at like 6.45am which is awesome cos it means I can catch the 9am bus and not have to kill time in NYC with my bag and being exhausted!

YAY excitement. Hopefully getting phone/tablet stuff soon too, gotta work out that stuff and so that I can play with it too before I go!

Betta go, got some glee to watch!
