Lumos!

Its been a pretty full on past few days. Its Friday now and I'm in Orlando, Florida. I know right?
Anyway, lets skip back a few days.

~creepy go back in time music~

On Monday I left Bryn's house in New Jersey and went into NYC for a few nights. I'd booked in at a hotel near JFK Airport which was nice and cosy, although it had a strange bath/shower/bedroom combination, but on the bright side it meant I could watch TV while I had a bath!

Tuesday I headed into the city, taking the free shuttle to the airport, then the airtrain to the subway station and then the subway. Epic journey I say! I did a bit of shopping on 34th Street, went to Macys (hugely amazing) and a few shops round there. I had meant to get to 5th and Madison Ave but never got that far lol. These places actucally had stuff more in my price range, although in saying that, I didn't actcually buy anything. One of the guys from camp was coming into town so I met up with him and we wandered the streets for a bit. Decided ages ago that we wanted to go see a show but on a budget and I had forgotten that Wicked was showing eariler that night so missed lottery tickets, lame! We ended up with tickets to Bring it On (which he chose). As we were walking to find dinner, we saw a line forming for autographs, I had no idea who the people wee but Crabbe got so excited and it was the Bryan brothers, when I saw they had gold medals from London, I knew it was a big deal. Turns out the US Open is on in NYC right now, huh! Anyway, we lined up for pictures and autographs and it was all fun and Crabbe was very happy. He taught Tennis at Awosting haha. Then we headed back to up the theatre to se Bring It On. WOW. So totally different from Chicago, it was heavily choerographed, being a show about cheerleaders it had to be, bt the stunts they pulled were incredible! Even Crabbe said he enjoyed it way more than he nthought he would. It was just epic, I literally had my mouth open the entire time gaping at te amazingness of it. It was proper, cheesy, stereotypical Broadway. I loved every minute of it! Afterwards, I had to catch the subway, airtrain and a cab back to the hotel (epic journey) and pack up all my stuff cos I had to be on the 6.30am shuttle the next morning to make sure I got to the airport ontime to check in for pur flight to Orlando!

I met Gabby at the airport, cos she had stayed out at Newark that night and had an epic trek into JFK. Anyway,we checked in and naturally, I was a little overweight, but that was all goods. Got through security, with a little kerfuffle with Gabbys moisturser in her bag lol, but it was all good. Plane flight was all good, I attemptedbto sleep for an hour or so, uncomfortably. We got to the airport and we had seen that our hotel wouldnt allow check in until about 3pm and it had just gone 11am, so we ate lunch at the airport and then found a Lush store. They were so cool to us in there, they gave us a free mini facial thing, face masks and all. It was so relaxing, perfect after the stress of making sure we were flying ok etc. That took us to about 1.30 so then we decided to come out to the hotel. Even on the cab ride, we noticed how different Orlando is to New York, and even where we were in Connecticut. Ther are little ponds/lakes everywhere and its sooo grassy! Nothing much more was acheived after we arrived at the hotel. Naps and food were priorities and we even found a little supermarket down the road a bit which stocks crunchie bars, yum. The hotel is quite nice, more motelly really, but it has a pooln and a resteraunt which suits us fine. And it includes free breakfast, yay!

Free Facials!

Anyhu, yesteday was the big day when we missioned it out to Universal Studios. Well, it wasn't really that much of a mission cos we just got the free shuttle from the hotel lol. It left at like 8am though, so it was an early morning, consequently when we got there, we headed straight to the nearest coffee shop (aka starbucks) for a morning pickmeup. After we entered the park, we hung around Suess world for a bit (Gabby had never heard of Dr Suess, WTF? I may have quoted way too many lines from Seussical that morning), went on the kiddies rides before we couldnt hold back anymore and headed towards the castle towering over the park (aka Hogwarts). It was sooo cool! Hogsmeade was first up, with the train and shops! Honeydukes, Zonkos, Madame Malkins, it was soooo cool! There was fake snow everywhere so it looked like the middle of winter but it was so hot! We meandered around a bit before heading up to Hogwarts and going on the forbidden journey ride. It was so dizzymaking haha, you pretty much sat in some seats that moved round like a motion simulator, but you were liteally dangling from mid air watching a screen like you were flying around on a broomstick. Fun, but I felt very sick for a while afterwards. We went and had lunch at The Three Broomsticks which was fun! I tried what thy called Butterbeer, it was very sickly sweet, I have no idea what was in it! We meanderd a little before going into Ollivanders and having a wand choosing experience, except that some kid got chosen to get his wand picked, Gabby and I disliked this. Anyway, that whole thing was fun to watch. We also went on the Hippogriff rollarcoaster, which is for kids, but I still screamed and closed my eyes. Lucky I haven't got my voice back fully yet! It was just fun and totally worth comingdown here for. We did the rest of the Island of Adventure which included Jurassic Park (and the birth of a living, breathing dinosaur which Gabby totally fell for), a comic place where we went on a popeye ride that got us sooaked! And then there was a marvel superhero bit which was cool, but we avoided rides at all costs cos they looked too scary! We ended up leaving the park at about 5pm and heading around the front facade which included a hard rock cafe which was fun. We were absolutley exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel so totally bummed out. Bleugh!

Went outlet shopping today, and spent hardly any money, go me!

Right, time for karaoke!

The last few days

Hard to believe its been a week since camp ended! Its been a crazy week here around NYC. Since Thursday, I've been staying out at a mates place from camp in New Jersey. Its been nice to stay in a house! We haven't really done a lot, just chilled out at her house. The day I arrived was her dads birthday and we went put for dinner and they got me a lobster. That was an experience. I got the bib and everything haha.

Thursday we came into the city a little later on in the day, but one of the guys thats staying out in Jersey with me and I went to see Chicago on Broadway. To go to a Broadway show has been a dream of tmine for a very long time so I was sooo happy. I couldn't stop smiling. The show was a lot funnier than I imagined it would be, but it was still great. It was a very bare set with a tierd orchestra stand in the middle of the stage. The only set change was a couple of things coming down from the flies for the courtroom scene and ther were no costume changes. The cast sat on the sides of the stage the entire time. The choerography was also very simplistic but it worked and it was aamazing. I got goosebumps so many times haha. I'm in te city for a few more nights so will deffo be going to more shows!

Yesterday was such a chilled out day. Literally just hung around the house all day, read my book, had a nap and it felt so good. Bryn's (friend Im staying with) parents put on an amazing steak dinner for us which was awesome. There are a few others from camp staying out with me which is cool.
Today we headed into the city again and went to the American Museum of Natural History. Its so big! I managed to get around most of it, but after 4.5 hours was ready to leave. Shame really cos there was still so much I wanted to see but I was so over it at the same time. We went for a little meander around NYC before getting on the train back home, which is where I am as I type this. Its an hour trip! I'll post this when I get back and add more photos and details to the poat below, so make sure you check that out too!

Tomorrow, I head into the city for 2 nights (must book hostel tonight!)  before flying to Florida on Wednesday for some Harry Pottering! So excited. Hopefully on Tuesday I'll get to walk around 5th Ave and Madison Ave and get some fashion ideas haha. Running (well, more probably ran out) of room in my suitcase so can't buy anything, but still cool to go to these places!

Offically got my flights to London now too! Thats exciting. Heard from Nina (our old German student) today too, so will hopefully be able to go catch up with her! So much going on haha.
Fingers hurting now from too mich tablet typing, catch you all up later! Xx

Now camp is over

So, I've been chilling out in NYC/Newark for the last few days. Had a blinken horrible time getting here, bus was an hour late etc so it took a while to get here. We had fun yesterday, just wandering round the city. Went to Ground Zero whch was amazing, strange to imagine really. We went on the free Statten Island ferry to see the Statue, but didnt go up to it. I found where to get cheap Broadway tickets from, win!! Found an amazing Disney storenin Times Square which is so happy making! We also went to a Toys'r'Us in Times Square and went on the Ferris Wheel inside!
I'm move into a mates house tomorrow, so excited about going to a house! Will upload more pics then.

Boston Baby!

DADAAAAAA

Yeah, so we went to Boston on Monday. It took us 5 hours to get there (Didn't seem like that long, I reckon I must have fallen asleep or someone is lying to me!). Anyway, we got there with the intention of heading to a Fenway Park tour, but after we had a very late lunch, we got to the park and it was closed cos there was a game on. Tom and I decided to try and get into the stadium to take some photos, while Sam, Lilla, Chris and Gabby headed off to go and have a look around Harvard.

Tom and I ended up finding some guy on the street and he sold us his 2 $27 face value tickets - 2 for $35 as thats all we could scrape up in cash. So we got these tickets, and were just hoping they weren't a fake! We had talked to some security earlier to try and get ourselves in but that failed, so once we had these tickets we headed back to the security and they let us in (they have some special fan thing where they let people in early). It was cool being let in early, cos we got to go right down the front and take photos. Tom even managed to sweet talk a player who was practicing to get him a ball when it was hit his way, so that was pretty awesome. I tried, but then the player had to go inside, lame-o,

Anyway the game started with much fanfare. Man, the amount of people that they introduce for no reason at the start of a game is ridiculous! And then we had to stand for the National Anthem etc, and have a moment silence for the people involved in that shooting in a temple somewhere in the states or something....

They say pictures say 1000 words, so heres some pictures, and a video even!

American town with flags on every lightpost

Seriously, all the housing in Boston looked like this, it was really pretty!

We made it!!
This made me laugh. Bagpipes in America at a Baseball game, WIN!

Watersports Day!!

So last Thursday, here at Sunny Camp Chinqueka, we had Watersports Day. Well, it was more kind of a Watersports afternoon, cos it didn't really start until 2pm. We went over to Awosting for it, and our theme was Egyptian. I didn't spend a lot on my costume - just one $10 necklace from Walmart - and I made the rest in Arts and Crafts/they brought the stuff and I stuck it on me in some way, shape or form. It was fun to dress up!

Awosting's theme was Roman., so in a way they were quite similar, but different enough. I've seen a video and it looked like they really got into it! They made all the boys sign up as consripts and then branded them and gave them a shield etc. Ours wasn't nearly as exciting as that, as all our girls were wearing their tribal shirts and so the girls didn't dress up as much, but us counsellors did! The night before, I had no idea what I was going to wear, so slapping something together quite quickly seemed to work in my favour.

Eventually, we got over to Awosting. The bus that we had had an external speaker and the bus driver let us yell chants into it, so that was quite fun. We headed down to their waterfront and they had up a tent and had painted their CIT's white and so they were pretending to be statues which was cool. Our maintenance men had made a sarcophagus (Which Lilla lovingly painted) that Charlotte, our waterfront director, was carried in down to their waterfront and popped out. That was pretty cool. Then our Chieftians of each tribe arrived in a pyramid on the waterfront dressed as mummies - awesome!

Then the day commenced! It was super hot and I was down on the dock most of the day filming bits and pieces. Kinda wished I could get in the water, but kinda didn't at the same time.

There is a big race called War Canoe - which is pretty self explanatory really, but its a huge race, and we haven't won it for 20 odd years, and we didn't win again this year, but it was super close!

We had a scrumptious dinner after, before, you guessed it, another social! Wasn't very exciting, DJ was pretty cruddy, but hey, it was fun to lax out a bit.

And now! PHOTOS!!!
